DC Shop Small is an initiative that started as a way to garner online sales for local businesses shuttered because of COVID-19. It was started, and continues to be run by Mallory Shelter, the owner of SHELTER and Mallory Shelter Jewelry.
A virtual Small Business Saturday was launched on April 25, 2020 generating nearly $200,000 in sales in one day across 100 local businesses.
Today, the website features nearly 400 local businesses across the DMV, and serves as a resource for shoppers looking to support small businesses near them.
